Characteristic
RAD SMK 550 is a solvent-free microemulsion concentrate based on silanes and siloxanes, the concentrate is diluted with water to prepare the microemulsion. The diluted aqueous solution retains all the waterproofing properties of the Agrement British Board. certified the suitability of RAD SMK 550 as a waterproofing agent.
Special Features
RAD SMK 550 is a solvent-free silicone microemulsion concentrate - it is easily diluted with drinking water - activated with water and the ready-for-use silicone microemulsion should be used directly on the day of dilution.
Benefits over ready-to-use products:
- lower packaging costs
- no problems with empty containers
- ease of placement (takes 15 times less volume)
- Lower storage and transportation costs
Application
Diluted with water - we recommend to pour RAD SMK 550 in water, and not vice versa - the microemulsion is injected under pressure through the drilled holes to fight the rising from below capillary moisture in the mineral masonry. The main goal is complete impregnation of the masonry in the injection zone. At high humidity levels, injection under pressure is particularly preferred.
Appointment
Ready-to-use solution RAD SMK 550 is injected into the stone or brickwork through the holes. Holes are usually drilled at ground level (outside) or at the level of the floor (inside). The distance between drill holes depends on the absorbency of the structural material. For a homogeneous masonry, usually 10-12 cm between the holes is suitable. The depth of the holes should be approximately 5 cm less than the thickness of the masonry, before the injection of the material, the holes should be cleaned of dust.
Injection under pressure is the best method of processing objects with high humidity. Packers are placed in holes and a silicone microemulsion is fed under a pressure of 2-5 bars. The voids in the heterogeneous masonry should be pre-filled with cement mortar.
Masonry with a very high level of humidity can be treated by activating the silicone microemulsion by mixing with alkaline products or pure silicates after 1-2 days. Active components (alkyl silicates) instantly precipitate and the result comes faster, it is better to apply a horizontal waterproofing layer.
Masonry in the injection zone must be completely impregnated with a microemulsion so that the waterproofing layer is effective. This is achieved by selecting the appropriate injection time (5-10 minutes when injected under pressure).
For injection, we recommend diluting the RAD SMK 550 with drinking water in a ratio of 1: 9 to 1:14 (according to the requirements of the British Board of Agrement tests were performed using a microemulsion diluted with water in a ratio of 1:19). Only the amount of diluted product that will be used on the same day should be prepared.
Storage
The shelf life of each lot is indicated on the product label. Storage longer than the date indicated on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer suitable. However, in this case, it is necessary to check the properties required for the intended use targets.
Safety Information
